With Latin based languages such as English, German, French, Spanish etc, a single text message is 160 characters in length. You have the ability to send a message up to 918 characters, 6 messages of 153 characters, 7 characters of each message are used in the segmentation and concatenation process to join the messages back together again.

Languages that use Unicode Transformation Format (UTF) encoding such as Chinese, Japanese, Arabic etc, a single text message is 70 characters in length. In these languages you have the ability to send a message up to 402 characters, 6 messages of 67 characters, 3 characters of each message are used in the segmentation and concatenation process to join the messages back together again.

However, if you use characters within a message, then each credit (message) will default to UTF/UCS-2 encoding resulting in each credit being 70 characters in length or 67 characters for each if the message exceeds the single message length.
